Principal

Welcome! My name is Joel Vaughn, and I am proud to be serving in my sixth year as Principal of Brunson Elementary School. With 21 years in education, I have had the privilege of working in various roles including history teacher, head baseball coach, assistant football coach, guidance counselor, alternative school director, and assistant principal. Each of these experiences has shaped my approach to leadership and my deep commitment to student success.

I am originally from Hampton, SC, and have also lived in Greenwood and Barnwell, SC. My family and I currently reside in Hampton. My wife, Bain, and I are the proud parents of three wonderful children—Wylder (16), Bo (14), and Sonny (10).

I earned my undergraduate degree from Lander University and my master’s degree in educational administration from Grand Canyon University.

At Brunson Elementary, we are committed to maintaining a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment for every student. I look forward to working alongside our students, families, staff, and community partners to ensure that BES continues to be the best place for your child to learn and grow.
